Ask an Acupuncturist
I don't like needles. Will it hurt?
Acupuncture needles are placed in your soft tissue and not in veins or nerves. I use very thin needles, unlike those for shots or drawing blood. Most patients do not feel anything. However, if you do feel something, it may feel like a small poke in areas that need some attention. I needled a 3 year old boy and he didn't flinch.
You may get an achy feeling or a feeling of heaviness, but that is perfectly normal.

How does acupuncture work?
I am asked this question ALL the time and this is how I simply explain it. Every cell in your body creates an electrical impulse and a chemical reaction. What happens when you introduce stainless steel to an electrical impulse? You conduct electricity which in turn changes the the chemical reaction. This change is sent from one cell of the body to another through the lymphatic and nervous systems of the body making a change at the cellular level.
Why would I see an Acupuncturist instead of my Doctor?
If you have an emergency or if you have a serious medical condition, please see your primary care physician. Once your physician makes a diagnosis and you would like to treat the condition in a more holistic approach, please see an Acupuncturist. We are trained as physicians in China. We diagnose and treat according to the theory of Oriental Medicine using Acupuncture, Herbs, Exercise and Tui Na.
The Oriental Medicine Theory has evolved over thousands of years by observation and experimentation. It has been practiced and improved for every condition the body has experienced. Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine is not only good for pain, but almost every human affliction. Western Medicine is the hands down best for emergency medicine.
